If you are in a retention market, then MGM and finding influencers migt help to acquire new customers.
In this method, you give promotions to already existing clients providing that the customer brings some more clients/ friends to you.
With this method, you gradually build your own community who are happy to use your products and services, and suggest other people to use your services.
If you are in an acquisition market, then you do not have time to wait for 1-2 years to build your community with this method. You need some other methods to acquire lump sum number of clients, mass media, above the line communication (TV advertisements) are one of them.
With above the line communication, whether you get the most loyal customers are another question, but at least you can fill in your yearly sales quotas.
Maybe the correct way should be to use ATL communication for image campaigns and new product launches, wheras you can have endless, continuous MGM campaigns to keep your loyal customers and build a loyal customer community in the long run.
